Sheets overlap by one rib, so dividing the run by the full sheet width is wrong: we use the effective width of the chosen profile.

Profiled sheet for fences: wall-grade PS profiles, galvanised or polymer-coated, cut to the height of the fence. We work out the quantity from the run length.
Which profiled sheet suits a fence
Fencing uses wall-grade sheet — the PS profiles. Their rib height is lower than roofing PK or structural N grades, which is exactly right: a fence panel resists wind load rather than bending under snow. PS-8, PS-10 and PS-20 are the common ones, differing in rib height and stiffness. The taller the fence and the more exposed the plot, the higher the profile worth taking.
The second factor is the coating. Galvanised sheet is cheaper and works for the back of a plot or a temporary hoarding. Polymer-coated sheet costs more but holds its colour and resists corrosion at cuts and edges, which is why it is used for street-facing fences.
Thickness for fencing is usually 0.4 to 0.5 mm. Thinner sheet flexes in the wind and dents during installation; thicker sheet makes sense where the fence carries load or faces impact. Sheets are ordered to the height of the fence plus an allowance for fixings, to avoid cutting on site — a cut through the coating is the first place rust appears.

Cut to height
Sheets arrive at fence height rather than "roughly right": less cutting on site means fewer places where corrosion starts.
More than sheet
Tube for posts and rails, angle and fixings are in stock and go on the same order as the sheet.

Which grade should I use?
