What wire rod is used for
Wire rod is hot-rolled round wire supplied in coils. On site its main job is tying reinforcement cages: bars are tied with wire rather than welded, because welding often changes the properties of the steel in the heat-affected zone and weakens the joint. The 6 mm size is used for stirrups and small embedded parts; 8 mm more often goes to manufacturing.
The second use is production: wire rod is drawn into wire and turned into nails, mesh and fixings. So enquiries come in two shapes: a builder takes a coil or two for a specific site, a factory takes regular tonnage for processing. We handle both, with no minimum tonnage.
Three things matter when ordering: diameter, delivery condition (which affects how easily the rod bends) and coil weight. A coil is not a small item — plan unloading at the site in advance.

Wire rod questions
How does wire rod differ from rebar?
Wire rod is smooth round wire in coils; rebar is ribbed bar in straight lengths. Rod ties the cage, rebar carries tension in the concrete.
Which diameter for tying cages?
Tying normally uses 6 mm or thinner wire drawn from it. The 8 mm size is more often feedstock or embedded parts.
How much does a coil weigh?
Coil weight depends on diameter and on the batch. Tell us the volume you need and we will quote the actual weight in stock.
Can I buy a single coil?
Yes, there is no minimum batch. Larger manufacturing volumes carry a lower rate.
